From Starry Skies Descending
Translated from the Italian title Tu scendi dalle stelle, this was originally written in the earlier part of the 18th Century by the Neopolitan priest, Alfonso Liguori. Also known by its original title, Quanno nascette Ninno, the melody is popularly associated in Italy with the zampogna, a large bagpipe, and is known as Carol of the Bagpipers. Arranged in a gentle pastoral style, this arrangement of the carol offers a smooth and expressive melodic line set in a lilting compound meter with a flowing piano accompaniment. Duration: 3:45
