Vier Lieder, Op. 27
Strauss' opus 27 contains four lieder (art songs) on texts from Karl Henckell, Heinrich Hart, and John Henry Mackay. Presented in three versions, the high-voice edition presents the songs in their original keys, while the medium- and low-voice provide versions adapted to lower keys. Each song utilizes the original German text along with a singable English version underneath the German text in italics. Titles include: Ruhe, meine Seele (Rest Thee, My Spirit); Cacilie (Cecily); Heimliche Aufforderung (The Lover's Pledge); and Morgen! (Tomorrow).
