Correlated to the Standard of Excellence Jazz Ensemble Method,this is a laid-back, funk style chart and is an excellent introduction to reading 16th note rhythms.  Many of the rhythmic patterns are repeated, allowing students ample opportunity to internalize the proper feel.  The groove is infectious and the licks are cool for young players.  The solos may be omitted or opened up with written or improvised solos for any player.  There's an outstanding CD included that will help with style and improvisation and the chart will sound great with reduced instrumentation or with the nontraditional band parts included.
