Missa in D
Unlike many of his Neapolitan contemporaries whose musical fame was largely based on operatic compositions, Francesco Durante (1684-1755) achieved international recognition by concentrating almost exclusively on the composition of sacred vocal music. The Missa in D (Missa Pastorale) is a work of a mature master who still possessed a high degree of creativity at an advanced age and had no need to borrow from his earlier compositions. It is unknown as to when this work was written but it can be assumed that it was written during Durante's time in Naples. Score (spiral binding), 59 p.
