Ripples in the Sand
Inspired by a karesansui, a Japanese rock garden with rocks and sand that feature the sand raked in patterns suggesting rippling water, this accessible work is peaceful and reflective. Used as a basis for the arrangement, the major pentatonic scale evokes the feel of a Japanese folk song. Scored for AATB sax quartet with bells and vibraphone.
