This carefully composed concert piece addresses the needs of both advancing and developing band students. The melody, countermelody and accompaniment include varied articulations as well as changes in dynamics and texture. After the stately introduction, the main theme is heard, followed by short episodes that change the texture and character of the piece. Woodwind and brass families take turns being featured before coming together for a majestic closing statement.
