The spirit of hope and determination of the early pioneers on the Iowa plains is expressed throughout this musical celebration. Bold and varied, this overture pays tribute to the historical importance of railroading to the city of Algona. Using a wide range of styles and timbres it allows every section of the band to share the spotlight. The piano part is optional and is cued in mallets and woodwinds.
