Agua's Whelm
This distinctive programmatic work tells the story of the tragedy that occurred in Central America in 1541 when a long quiet volcano, "Agua," suddenly erupted, completely wiping out the city of Ciudad Vieja. You'll hear the calm of morning, sounds of a city waking up, the building tension in the volcano and the eruption. There are lots of solo opportunities as well. This fine composition works very well for both festival or concert programs, as it shows the diversity in style and mood that your band can attain musically. And, your students will enjoy playing music written by one of their peers, as the composer was just 16 when he penned this. Highly recommended!
